The Hurstville Interpretive Center offers a variety of opportunities for visitors to help them learn about natural resources and area history. We also provide park packs and other equipment for schools, civic groups and individuals to check out and learn on their own.
The center features a wetland exhibit, a live honeybee hive, a replication of the town of Hurstville including an animated model train, lots of other wildlife mounts and informational displays. We are currently designing a prairie exhibit that will feature a buffalo head mount which will be completed in May 2007.
The staff at Jackson County try to provide something for everyone at the Hurstville Interpretive Center!
Field Trips The field trips offered at the center can be tailored to fit your needs. Some of the possibilities include: a bison program, skulls, prairie hike, bird watching blind, marsh study-invertebrates, nature center exhibits, orienteering. The list doesn't stop there - we have lots of resource materials and can tailor a program to your specific learning objectives.
