Jackson County Conservation Board currently provides:
- School programs
- Field trips
- Teacher assistance
- Public programs
- Programs for youth groups
- Programs for civic groups
- Summer school programs
- Nature resource information
- Adult education
- Volunteer opportunities
- Loaned materials for schools
- Cooperative programs with other agencies
With the Hurstville Interpretive Center we will continue these
programs and be able to expand to include:
- On-site interpretation of prairies and wetlands
- Facilities for all-day field trips on a site with a natural resource
base for field trips
- Special events for the public
- Special activities for schools and after-school programs
- An attractive stop for the traveling public
- Interpretation of the history of the Lime Kilns and the company
town of Hurstville
- Opportunities to promote other Jackson County attractions to
the public
- Opportunities for outdoor recreation for the general public
- Conference space for area businesses and industries
- Economic enhancement for Jackson County
- Meeting place for civic groups and youth groups
- Better storage of teaching materials
- Better access to equipment and supplies that are loaned to
schools
- Better public access to information
